How can I improve my 400m speed for 1500m , cross country The former being my main event ? My PR is 53.5 sec . I am aiming for sub 50 next year June-July?

I found what helped me was doing drills, harder ones that should tire the legs a bit, 5x strides with every run. It also tires the legs out a bit before the run which simulates XC. Also barefoot sprints for leg turnover.
You have to train all of the ingredients. It means you have to spend time training acceleration, maximum velocity, all the varieties of speed endurance, as well as strength and power. You have to find the correct recipe for combining those things with your general endurance and specific middle distance endurance work. You need to be able to use all the tools in the tool box.

there isn't just "a workout." there are many workouts and many sequences of workouts. you can start by googling completetrackandfield 400 and see what you find.
