Whites, especially males, and Asians in the US: why are you such pushovers regarding "Affirmative Action?" And don't many of you members of minorities feel that "Affirmative Action" has hurt you more than it has helped you?

When I look around and see that most people in positions of power in this country and white and male, I fail to see how anybody can complain that AA somehow has put us whites at a disadvantage. Given the wrongs we have done to other groups, I think we actually have a pretty sweet deal and have gotten away more than lightly!

I disagree. I didn't get away with anything. And many of the whites I se supporting "Affirmative Action" are in elite positions. I suppose it's not frequent enough to damage meritocracy the way "Affirmative Action" does, but they can endow a chair or simply make a large donation to get their kids into a top school.
And why are women given advantages via "Affirmative Action?" In the USA, they, by several indicators, outperform men (fewer imprisoned, attain college degrees at a higher rate, outlive men, fewer go into combat).
I think "Affirmative Action" harms the people it most purports to help by diverting attention from the root problems such as bad schools. Roughly 70% of black babies are born out-of-wedlock in the USA. Consider the effect of this just on language skills: hearing adult conversation less frequently at home probably has a very large effect on language skills. And "Affirmative Action" casts doubt on genuine achievements of its purported beneficiaries.
And the system gets gamed. I know two guys, small business owners, who claimed theirs was a "women-owned" business. A company I worked for hired them all the time largely because of that status.
Because I'm doing well and there isn't a minority in my company that makes more than me.
And I don't get tickets.
Police give me warnings.

I see - you HAVE a job.
Because affirmative action clearly still has not done enough to keep the idiot white males out of college. Still plenty of those yahoos running around on campus. Once that happens, I might get upset.
If you are a white male CEO you love AA since it keeps other qualified white males from rising up and challenging your position. You made it in, now slam the door behind you.

I'm white, and the son and grandson of NYC police officers. While most of my experiences with cops on duty have been fine, I had one white cop behave like a huge jerk to me, putting my health, indeed my life, in danger when I was on a bicycle, helmeted, fluorescent yellow jersey on for safety - to prove a point. I entered a traffic circle on my bicycle with what I thought and still believe was plenty of clearance. He accelerated (I heard the engine rev) and he put the front bumper of his patrol car about 1/2 to 2 centimeters from my rear tire. I rode to the outside of the circle and dismounted. He claimed I rode into the traffic circle without yielding to him. I kept my mouth shut as much as possible and spoke only to answer his questions. Yeah, I received no ticket, but I think he would have been embarrassed if there were footage of the incident.
