My first coach used to set up some boxes and have the freshman race them. Losing to a box was such a humiliation that even the freshman would run the entire course.

I knew a chatter box who was really good at running....off at the mouth.
Pretty fast but they tend to get boxed in

And you are the worst of them sir.
Oh really? It depends? I didn't know that.
And you, my friend, are absolutely no fun at all. Just because your mistake made this thread go awry, it doesn't mean you have to be so uptight.
And no, boxes are no good at running.
I have a friend who when he was a super featherweight pro boxer would do cardio training by running the Central Park 10k loop at around 7 minute pace, which he considered easy. Not sure how fast he could race it.

They won't be world class because they are spreading their work load on some martial arts. Any knowledgeable athlete would know this. OP must be a box headed person. Thinking in a box.
Billy mays trained boxing but was not boxing at the time of his Olympic medal.
Also, consider there are different types of runners and different types of boxers, corresponding to physiological attributes and specialties.

From my experience Boxers are decent runners, but Greyhounds are much faster.
+1
Whippets would also beat most Boxers. They really whippet good.
Porsche Boxters generally run pretty well but you should get an older 911 if your budget can stretch to one

In all those Rocky movies you always see the boxers doing a lot of endurance running. How good they are do say? What times would you say those professional fit boxers can do for 5k,10k?
How fast? Pretty fast.... Old thread here:

And this forum is full of people too lazy to edit.
I remember a few years back I took a friend for a run who was a boxer, and quite good at it. He said he jogged once or twice a week. We went for a hilly 10 miler, and I kept the pace at about 7:30/mile for the first half and he seemed to keep up quite well. I was impressed, as he is muscular and heavy (maybe 5'9" and close to 180lbs, with a six-pack and no visible flab at all). I gradually picked it up to 6:30-ish per mile during the second half and he started to falter for the last few miles, but kept up until about a mile to go when he started dropping back. He was redlining for sure, but seemed determined.
Either he lied about his casual running or he's naturally quite good at it, but either way I was impressed. FWIW he is a black guy from Nigeria who had moved to Canada a few years earlier.
I know a professional boxer. Back in the mid 80s when he was boxing, we used to see him out running. The general thought was that he could probably run 18:xx for 5k in a race. He ran 30 minutes or so every day whether or not he was preparing for a fight. As he explained, "a boxing ring is a bad place to find out you're out of shape".

Goofy typo in my the body of a message can be let go, but a funny typo in the subject line will always derail a thread.

Don't be such a square
Evander Holyfield ran 2:09 for the half mile in one of the Superstars competitions.
You people have obviously never raced a box on a windy day.
Rocky would not be a great racer. He would tend to always get boxed in.

SPELT it correctly.
Not all inanimate objects lack limbs, for example a statue has limbs. It is possible to build a statue out of boxes. Then it depends on whether putting robotic servos in them to make them run is allowed. Are they still running boxes then? I say yes.
I raced a box down a hill on a windy day once. I eventually won because he kept folding.
