my mistake the fight will be on HBO, collazo has a record of 26 wins and one loss and is the champion at 147 pounds, ricky hatton a champion at 140 pounds has a record of 40 wins and 0 losses.
I'm going to be an "I told you so" as.s here. But I've been saying boxing is a great cross-training exercise for runners. Hitting the heavy bag just stretches the lungs. Plus these guys jump rope for 20+ minutes at a time (better than plyos IMO) and run 5 miles on top of it. Oh yea, sparring's super exhausting.
One young contender used to run 400M intervals up a hill with a 10 lb weight jacket. Floyd Mayweather and Ricardo Mayorga mentioned running 5:30 pace for some of their 5 mile workouts. When I was rehabbing my achilles, all my heavybag hitting left my lungs as good as before. Remember, these guys are swinging 8-10 ounce gloves for 12 rounds and rarely go into bad O2 debt. That's serious fitness.
That all said, 29:32 still surprises the heck out of me.
R u serious

apparently Mayorga is quite a smoker as well.
Benson Masya was another great boxer who ran sub-28 in his day.
sorry, that's not the same luis collazo-- this guy is 30 years old (see world's best 10k results), the boxer is 24 or 25...
This is a different person. Luis Collazo is the number one runner from Puerto Rico . There is a fighter with the same name. So the runner Luis Collazo did the 10K in 29.
Did he actually run a legit 10k in 29:32!? Yeah, boxers are fit, but still, that is more than amazing.

Yea really.
I think boxing is a great sport and I admire their fitness
I'm jealous! :p
I guess if you get into a fight with this guy you're f***ed. Can't beat him and can't run away from him.
I remember reading that Larry holmes would run 34 min for a 5 mile race and that sugar ray leonard would do his 6 mile training runs in 33 minutes..
DO you guys believe it is possible for two people to have the same name?
My name is Michael Jordan. Do you want my autograph? Probably not!
