But Dibaba ran like a gazelle in her vaporflies, and I think that 4 percent advantage really helped her run. I love her to death, but her first thon was an excellent 2:20, but she goes out and destroys that by 3 mins in her second thon. I get Mary's time, because she is a 2:18 thoner....But Dibaba's time is huge, huge jump. And I don't think that she's a doper.

I think the spring plate helped. Without the shoe, maybe she goes 2:19, considering the third place woman came in in at 2:22 or 2:23?

2:39 was Tirunesh's difference and 1:36 was Mary's. Considering this was only Dibaba's second marathon, and she showed well in her first effort and had a personal best for 10,000 at Rio last summer plus a sub 1:07 half....that's a lot of things lining up for a good marathon. Think how fast she'd have been in adidas?

Did Paula say that on the BBC? The international cable/satellite feed with a woman know as Mara actually did grasp what was going on. One of the spectators (a woman) thought Bekele was waving to her personally. I bet she told everyone at work today, "that Kenenisa Bekele guy he waved to me you know."

Keep in mind, quite a few top top elites show up race weekend and wear whatever kit they are given, and whatever new flats they are given.....just to make sure they have the latest shoe and color combo on. no wear testing, no break-in period, no input. just lace up and go, and these include the best men and women in the world. baffling to me that they don't follow any of what the normal hobby-jogger does.......it is impressive but sometimes not the smartest thing for a top athlete to do.

Unfortunately, Kenenisa coming in 2nd place at the London Marathon with a time of only 2:05:57 was…a debacle.

Kenenisa did not have proper training again for London because he only trained for 7 weeks.

Kenenisa gained about 10 lbs because he was also eating too much.

Kenenisa looked like he had gained weight since Berlin and had a slight double chin. I have never seen him this big.

Kenenisa let himself get a little pudgy.

The stupid Nike shoes also caused blisters, hamstring problems, form problems and all kinds of other problems for Kenenisa.

It was obvious after the race that Kenenisa was upset and embarrassed at his London debacle.

The only good thing that came out of this Kenenisa Bekele marathon debacle is that it could of been a lot worse.

If Kenenisa was hurting really bad and really died to the point that his race time would be a complete disaster (e.g. 2:09:58 by Galen)…he would just drop out and get a ride back to the hotel.
