He's capable of 3:56 - 57 in the right race, likely even faster by June. Impressive. Very.
http://live.pttiming.com/?mid=1180Kid is ready for something much quicker. Get him to the Pre meet.
Leo should tie a bow on her and put it to bed. I think he would make a fantastic college coach. Great personality with tons of knowledge, could help develop Latino runners.
very impressive from Worley in beating very good college kids (including Jonah Koech) and pros. Leo's fine. 4:02 is not bad for him in April, not bad at all. Look where he came back to in the Trials last year. But Worley was in 8th at the 3/4 in 3:04 and went all the way to the victory by over a second! With a 56 close, he showed that he is likely to be a 3:56-57 guy this year with better pacing and maybe Oregon weather.
Just needs a little more confidence, he tends to sit and kick in these big races. Did the same at the Nike Elite mile at the trails last summer, but got beat by Brown.
Sam Worley of New Braunfels Canyon High School won the professional mile in 4:00, Manzano was 4th in 4:02. What?

56.29 to be exact. It looks like Leo had .40 on the field at halfway (3:04) but didn't have it at the end.

I was checking Texas Relays results and saw this. Didn't look hard but I didn't see a thread. Reed Brown with a 4:03 just behind Leo. Great Texas runners!

Just to be clear, you are suggesting that a high schooler who went out with the lead pack in an elite mile with multiple pros and then kicked for the win suffers from a lack of confidence?
You did see that he went 61, 60, 61 for the first three laps, right?
I'd say he is doing just fine for confidence for now. A he develops as a runner, we can revisit that.

What people don't realize is he did a 6 mile tempo for his warm up before the race. He's not worried about small races like this, he's looking at the big picture. Stop hatin people
Must have done a 10 mile tempo before Usatf indoors. I agree he will likely be fine at Usatf outdoors but it is crazy to believe that he is getting paid by Hoka for these last two years. It is just sad to watch.
Last year he had every excuse in the book. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with this year. His dog died? He didn't have time to run because he was posting on social media?

Why? Fourth at the Olympic Trials isn't a joke. He's a great ambassador for the sport and his sponsor. For a sponsor, results are important to some extent, but that includes past results. They can say Olympic Silver Medalist in every ad that he is in. He sells the brand well for sure.

The kid's got speed for sure. Interesting to bring up that Brown beat him at the Trials last year with some great finishing speed as well. Considering it's barely April, I'd love to see both of them battle a sub-4 in the same race later this season. With the times they're producing and the speed we know they have, it'd be interesting to put them in a race going for 3:55 or something similar.
Could we see THREE high school sub-4 miles this year in DJ Principe, Sam Worley, and Reed Brown? or even more once you consider a few other HS studs like Noah Affolder. Does anyone have a Mile PR for Brody Hasty?
Hasty has a pr of 4 08 but is capable of going much faster in the right race
Hastey, like all the other Junior studs is sitting in the 4:08 range right now. He's not really a sub 4 contender this year, more likely a Drew Hunter type having little no fast twitch. I'd give him an upside of maybe 4:03 this year, more likely a 4:04-4:06 guy by the end of the year.

Funniest response I have seen in while!!!
OMG LMAO!
You completely correct. Shows you how retarded most of the posters are here. That HS kid does not need more confidence. He is doing just fine. Sub 4 coming.
