What's your age? It sounds like you started off with too much volume too soon. The walking is good, but you may need to cut back to every other day, or even 2-3 miles every other day, until your muculoskeletal system and joints catch up with your fitness gains. It's annoying and frustrating, but in 3-4 more months, you'll be glad you did. That's when you'll be running every day instead of sitting at home nursing an injury.
