Comes down to the person - I don't think there is a consensus.
I used to need a full day off after marathon training long runs, now I don't. I used to prefer having a day completely off for mental reasons, now I prefer the consistency of running every day.
When you hit high enough mileage I think 7 days becomes attractive - not sure it makes sense to double an extra day and leave a day of complete rest but I'm sure somebody does it and prefers it.
