My prediction. Trump will announce his nominee on Nov. 4, and Moscow Mitch will try to rum it through the lame duck Senate, even if that means taking a vote on the New Year's eve.

I can see that.

Trump has to deny a 25 rape or sex assault allegation earlier today and your worried about abrasive.

It was a statement on her personality. There was a reason she did so poorly during the Democratic Presidential Campaign. Her choice as Vice President was based on her race and gender, as well as a nod to Bernie’s liberal agenda.
Harris is nowhere near Bernie on the political spectrum.
You’re talking nonsense man.

A very likely scenario.

I'd love it to work the other way but my guess is if they vote prior to the election the dems will be more motivated to get trump out of office... and trump fans will be less motivated... like I said, i'd be surprised if they hold a vote prior to the election.
What I mean is that Trump can use a new appointment possibility to re-elect him but the Dems can use the same to motivate the Democrats to get to the polls and there are more Dems than Reps.
I understand what you are saying. I just think dems will be even more angry and more likely to vote if they vote prior to the election. your thought is certainly a possibility though.
The party of Trump, a very fine person.

A very sad part here is the lost opportunity- a R party that loved its country would recognize that by not nominating a replacement, they would heal the breach caused by Garland and Kav.
It would be a grand gesture to heal the nation.
Instead the 4 GOP senators will likely break their word and vote for a nominee.
Then the Dems will pack the court in 2021.
The Sup Ct will lose legitimacy.
This country is on a very bad trajectory.
This is terrible news for our democracy. As if the divider in chief hadn’t done enough permanent damage, he gets to bury us in a deeper and darker hole now. Rs will absolutely vote a new SC justice in. The only person you can take for their word is Romney, the rest are liars until they prove otherwise. There will be a new SCJ before trump leaves.
Once again HRC is right, too bad Dems are too nice to play dirty.
This is all Cruz could ever hope for. He’s probably thinking right now that letting trump get away with calling his wife ugly was the best thing he’s ever done. Yes, Tex Cruz for SCJ.

Love seeing the libs meltdown over the SCOTUS vacancy. If they decide to riot over this, Dementia Joe will get destroyed on election night. I hope Mitch McConnell rams this through, just like Botox Pelosi rammed the impeachment. Karma is b!tch.

The main short term political consideration is the impact on the Senate. Mitch will urge trump to keep his mouth shut until after Nov 3, when GOP senators no longer have to worry about losing their seats. He will then have the votes he needs and there will be a new conservative judge on the SC. No amount of political theater from Dems is going to prevent the seat from being filled. The only effective weapon Dems had was the Senate filibuster and that was gutted by the GOP in 2017.
The only way a nomination doesn’t happen is through self-made clusterfks within the GOP, motivated by conflicting personal interests of course. Trump for example may fight with Mitch and try to start the nomination process right away thinking it will boost his chances of winning. That may actually ensure Trump loses by lighting an even bigger fire under the Dem base. It might even deliver a Dem senate majority. But of course, if you’re a GOP leader thinking strategically, you jam through the nominee at all costs as a SC seat is much more valuable in the long run than a temporary WH term and period of senate majority.
Please give up any hope that there won’t be a confirmation before trump is gone. It is very silly to think it won’t happen.

You know it but I get it, you are simply jubilant at the thought of libs continuing to get owned
https://twitter.com/talbertswan/status/1307241498329612288?s=21Not that this will prevent a new SCJ from being installed before trump leaves office, but Dems should at least fire the warning shot now. If Mitch follows through with his hypocrisy and Dems take the Senate and WH they should expand the SC and change the rules in 2021, as it will be within their constitutional right to do so. There will never be enough votes to get rid of the EC but they can at least change the SC. But they will probably continue playing mr nice guy and let the GOP keep raping the US.

This is a test to see exactly the level of unabashed hypocrisy of Mitch and his band of Republican sycophants. And a test of the American voter to see their level of tolerance for lying without shame.
Sounds like Mitch is saying f-you to America and to any sense of fairness and decency. This will further hurt Trump as it should.

Expanding the court is a never ending cluster situation. As soon as the Rs can...they would counter the D expansion with their own expansion. Then the Ds would counter the Rs with yet another expansion.
It’s a self destructive exercise and I think the Dems are too patriotic to start that cycle.
