5/22 data
The data are starting to hint at a new phase of the disease.
phase 1 was China
Phase 2 was Italy/France/Spain.
Phase 3 was Europe and America
seems to me we're ending phase 3 and moving to:
Phase 4: Poor countries around the world, especially South America. As phase 1,2,3 countries heal up.
For example, Italy France Spain, in mid-April, made up 30+% of worldwide daily deaths. Now they are just 6% of world daily deaths. From 2,000 per day down to maybe 300.
The headlines are fine:
Daily deaths in the US continue to fall. Lowest 7 day average since early April.
Globally...the trend is also improvement, but 5/22 went the wrong way. Just one day tho.
But Brazil is rocketing up the curve, with 1,000 deaths per day, the second most of any country (USA still #1)
Brazil is now the 24th worst nation (per capita) - it was the 28th worst just last week. And other South American nations are also doing badly. The large number of deaths in those countries are filling in for the improvements in the US and Europe.
No other changes in the standings. I'm tracking GA, FL, TX, Sweden, USA, Brazil.
