Hawaii position is closed and an offer was made and accepted. Just waiting on background checks to clear and paperwork. Probably should see that post popping up in a couple days

I started my career as a director of operations at a power 5 school. Made $36K a year. You're the low man or woman on the totem pole, do all the grunt work, and don't make much money but it's a way to get into the system and network with people.
Know of one SEC DirOps who makes north of $70K. There's may be more who do.
Same at ASU, should see announcement next day or so after backround check clears.

Braden was the head cross country coach at UCLA and the only paid distance coach they had on staff. I imagine Avery Anderson already has someone in mind to take his spot. So now the question becomes who will fill out the rest of the W&M staff? Who will the jumps coach be? Who will be Braden's assistant?
Yes Man wrote:That's interesting. Thanks for the news. Was he the head cross country coach at UCLA or assistant?
W&M has the official posting for jumps but not distance assistant yet. Any names for either of these assistant spots?
Any news about Alabama throws??

I know of a power 5 coach who just turned it down a little over a week ago. So it might not be done.
you know why they turned it down?
curious as to why all the nos
You legally can't "coach" anyone either which kinda sucks. I know more than a handful of DOps that still "coach" a group, but their main focus are the logistics. Like someone else said, easy way to network and a position like that will help you develop your recruiting and management skills, which can't hurt.
New Adams State Coach is Dustin Imdieke. Great hire for the Grizzlies.

Why do you think this is a great hire? Has he ever proved that he can recruit top level athletes, to a shitty location? Especially when the majority of the scholarship money will be going to distance events. Time will tell....
good hire but i hate seeing people out of coaching get jobs only because it stops the carousel
It was very disappointing to many of us that the Administration did not keep Coach Light, who was (is) an excellent Coach. But considering the restrictions you mentioned, getting a young hungry and up and coming Coach like Dustin is as good a result as Adams State could hope for, especially given the salary limitations. Hoping Rock gets a swift landing at another good program.

There are still a few coaches out there who don't chase around every penny.
TWC did hire the sprint coach, Sam Roberts. He coached a couple of Footlocker finalists as a high school coach, so he should be a strong distance coach also.
What about Lake Erie and Limestone? Who did they hire for their cross jobs?
Rock Light does a very good job with the technical aspects of coaching. Those results are evident in the results from athletes he has coached. However, he does not have a very good record as far as ethical decisions go. There are stories on this board from when he illegally coached a pole vault recruit at a championship event prior to enrollment. Also, the verbal tirades towards athletes and coaches of other teams, regardless of if it was initiated by him or not, were far from professional. That is what ultimately led to his demise at Adams. He was warned by his AD and the RMAC comissioner on more than one occassion, removed from the championships and suspended. It's pretty hard to keep your job for very long with that line of things. Again, he is a great technical coach, maybe starting a professional group or organization might be a good route for him.
