I'm pretty sure at the 20k mark other guys were taking their bottles from outstretched arms.... I'm sure if this was a violation somehow everyone wouldn't be doing it

Trollism, my English is not perfect, but I can tell you that the "non-cheating haematologist" (I think you speak about Federico Rosa and Claudio Berardelli, nobody of them is a haematologist, but we can't also hope you know what you say) never were busted. Maybe you, who are a person following the rules and the law, don't know that, before speaking about a final verdict, you have to wait all the hearings and what happens in the Court.
Come back on this pages after the end of November, when both have the final hearing.
Curious. It's rare for a post like this on Letsrun to reflect so accurately what it purports.

Anyone really, really interested, go to 56min20sec of the video, 20k mark and 1hr56min20sec, 40k mark and you will see Jos Hermens, grey hair, black T shirt, grey pants handing KB his drink. He is the only person not wearing a red top amongst all the red top wearing officials at the drinks tables.

There should never be water or refreshments/energy gels/drinks given out in any marathon race in the first place.
Being able to resist dehydration or over expenditure of energy are the characteristics of a great marathon runner and inroducing energy gels/drinks takes this part of the contest out of the equation. You should be getting to the finish line on your body's power not with outside assistance/fuel during the race.

I posted the entire rule half an hour earlier but since you couldn't be bothered to read it,
"Refreshments shall be placed so that
they are easily accessible to, or may be put by authorised
persons into the hands of, the athletes."

Thanks. This answered my question. I was the one who asked about this on the Berlin Marathon Live Thread. I had not seen the race. So I asked. And then nobody answered and I asked again. That is all.
So Renato, he took plain water, with 2k left in the race for the psychological lift to pull away from Kipsang?
That's it? The GOAT, the man who pulled away from elite runners in the latter stages of many races, activated his will to press towards close to the world record, with the psychological release of cold water on the nerve endings?
Don't buy it Renato.
Great men will it with their minds.
It was quick release soluble Epo in the bottle
I already posted this in the Berlin marathon thread

Have you ever raced, given your all, in a long-distance race?
If your mouth is dry, a sip of cool water can have an amazing psychological effect.
Bekele is all that is still human.
Soluble EPO for the last 6 minutes ! You are one of the biggest moron ever existing ! How is it possible you don't understand how much ridiculous you are?
You may scoff Renato but the stuff is amazing

Your body derives power from food. All athletes would be disqualified per your rules.

It might for a hobbyjogger like you.
We're talking about the GOAT - no gimmicks necessary.

Not during the race - there is a big difference. Read my post again.
I was saying that in reference to the people saying that he was the only one that got his bottle handed to him, I was already aware of the fact it was legal well before today, but some people here just like to make a big deal of nothing it's pretty common place.

It's what makes LR, it's just that some people take things and themselves way, way, way too seriously.

Remember just a few months ago, Jos Hermens had a major party with Seb Coe in attendance for his Global Communication company's 30 year blow out. Ignored was the years of dopers from the East Germans in the 1990s to questions about his current athletes who are protected by the IAAF.
Your sport is dirty to the max. Accept it and get over it.
East Germans in the 1990s huh?
