Not saying they should be DQ'ed but they clearly cut a corner when the course blue line was marked off the curb.... thoughts?

My thought here is that you REALLY need to get a life.
I noticed that during the broadcast also. Obviously no impact one way or the other but how does the rule for this work. Can you step two feet off course but no more....or something?
There is no rule. As long as you're not running up in the crowd you're fine.
It also seemed like a few runners, including Kipsang, false started
They did not cut the course at all. They just took the shortest tangent which is smart. If you look carefully, there is a tape at the corner blocking away spectactors from the course and keeping runners on the course. Kipsang and Bekele did not cross that tape onto the spectators side. The blue line is just a guide and only wise to follow it when on a straight part of the course since it would be the shortest.
So the WR wouldn't have counted anyway, that should make Bekele feel better.

Do you understand what the blue line is for?
I am sure when the course was measured they did not ride up onto the curb to do so. But this is also what the SCPF is for. I think this would be a judgement call if a WR was in question.
I believe the word you're looking for is KERB.

Nope. He's probably looking for an answer to his question not alternate spelling of the same word.

Irregardless, I could care less.
Even if they did "cut" the course, this kind of thing is covered off by the overage factor of the course measurment. For the course to be certified as "WR Ready" the overage has to be included in the process:
The "short course prevention factor" (SCPF) of 1.001 is applied to recognise the error in measurement by the calibrated bicycle method (one part in a thousand). Applying the SCPF is intended to result in road race courses which are at least the distances stated, within the limits of measurement precision. It may also mean that very slight variations in the course layout on race day will not invalidate the measurement.
OH NO THEY CUT A CURB? Set back their pb's, if they hadn't cut the curb it would have been a 2:05 race :/
Alls I got is lol
Rarely a false start in LDR/XC. The hand timers just start their watches at the 1st surge of the pack off the line.

Wrong. Kerb is the original spelling. Curb is the American misspelling of the word.
My first few races abroad I got extremely pissed watching people cut curbs. I learned quickly that it isn't considered cheating or breaking some sort of code to hop onto the sidewalk and take the shortest line.
