Quite an impressive field on the men's side but disappointing on the women's. Gladys Cherono, winner with sub 2:20 last year, Meselech Melkamu and Ednah Kiplagat all did not go to the Olympics and should have been considered. But with Berlin allowing athletes' managers to have greater control, its not possible to have head to head competition among top athletes the way they do in London. On the men's side, Bekele is the favorite but he will have a fight to the line with Wilson Kipsang and Kipsang might even win it.
