Most of Texas is rough. Our college cross country team had a shotgun pulled on us. That was out in the boonies, but I was also shot with a BB gun in the suburbs. Not to mention the constant street harassment everywhere, the heat, etc. There are plenty of good things about Texas, but running isn't among them unless you're in Austin.
Texas is full of hot BBWs with big juggs and butts.
Phoenix.
Its the worst place in the US period. Doesn't matter what you're doing, if you find yourself there, its the worst place in the US to be doing what your doing.

Why? I thought there were a lot of runners particularly in Sante Fe. I think there's even a good group of Kenyan sub elites who live there.
Every place mentioned has produced champion runners. Y'all are pu$$ies.

California is the worst place to be a 49.xx 400 runner, or a 1:56 800 runner. Kiss your chances at state goodbye.

That's why I said Eugene...no matter how good you get you're probably going to be an "also ran." (Like Phil Knight)
To Black men, there is no good place to run. Every time White people see a Black man running they think you are up to no good.

Boston is not good - people think it's great because of The Marathon and The Charles but it's crap really. The winter and spring are terrible and the summers are miserably humid. You get about 1 month of good running - October. That's it. October.
Go run in Chelsea from Revere and then get back to me. Running along the Charles is a cakewalk with eye candy.

I enjoy jogging shirtless on Blue Hill Ave in Roxbury on a hot summer evening.

It was about 70 degrees and sunny today here in Anchorage. In Barrow, the forecast for tomorrow is a high of 38 and Sunday a high of 35. Welcome to Labor Day weekend at the top of the world. Put a negative sign in front of those temps and you will have January.

It's a great place to run.
I have. And there is no doubt that places like barrow Alaska are hands down the worst places to run in the us.
Barrow is not a bad place to run at all. I had an good 16 mile run exploring the town once after doing a field job there once. I ran through town first, where they have dumpsters painted with funny slogans like a whale and "Save the whales... for dinner" and another with the slogan "Got Misigaaq?"; stopped at the Will Rodgers and Wiley Post memorial; saw a lot of sled dogs; saw whale bones framing a sign at the beach. I ran north as far as I could towards Point Barrow until snow drifts blocked the road. No doubt I was the farthest north runner and person within US borders that day.
I've also run in a lot of other towns and villages off the road system in Alaska, and could get decent and sometimes awesome runs in just about every place. I once ran 120 miles in a week in Aniak. Cape Lisburne was one of the nicest places, running along a beach with tens of thousands of seabirds in the air and on cool rock/cliff formations, and running up a road to an old radar site with awesome views - but with caution (did see brown bears there).
I started think about it
Alaska? no that just would suck in the winter
Southwest? That would sure suck in the summer
Southeast would be even worse. Hot and humid.
Most of the northeast wold suck in the winter and the sunmer.
Man, I'm glad I'm in the Pacific Northwest. July and August get hot but not too terrible, you just have to run before noon or after the sun goes down. Most of the rest of the country is hotter anyway. The rest of the year can rain and you might have to run through hurricane rains, but that isn't too often. Usually, if you have to run in the rain, it's just a light sprinkle. You get used to it
Oregon is the WV of the west.
Appears that Runners World disagrees as they just named it one of the top ten cities in the US for running
