A HS distance guy who has the speed to run 1:59 and ~9:55 should be able to run what in the 1600? Are sub 2 and sub 10 equivalent in terms of ability?

4:30, this is pure speculation, but I've always viewed the sub 2 mark as equivalent to sub 4:30 both mentally and physically
A local runner has a 1:58 and a 4:21, so I'm thinking at least 4:25.
I was 2:02, 4:27, 9:50.
4:30 on the nose
depends on mileage and training. i'd say 4:25 if the runner can do a 400m under 54-55 seconds. 4:30 if no natural speed or prolonged focus speed trainingi was :400m - 49.7 (split) 50.3 open800m - 1:551600m - 4:293200m - 10:16 (2 years before other PB's though)5k xc - 16:19 i was running 25 miles a week for those times, no repeats longer than 800m, mostly 150m - 600m. longest run was 5 miles in a track seasonobviously, our track coach's goals were 400-800m based for us

I'm guessing low 4:20s with a few races to learn the feel.
I've known quite a few 9:50-something kids with 800m bests around 2:05-2:10 and they tended to cluster around 4:30. Also had a few just under 2 kids who ran 4:30-ish who couldn't get under 10:25.
52-53 quarter speed (hand timed relay split)
