Hi. I just ran the Boston Marathon through a charity that does great things for inner city youth. It was a most awesome time, but now I want more. I was thinking, why not do it on the biggest stage, the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro this summer? Do they offer charity sponsored entries, how many, and where do I go to get one?
Is there a way I can run the Olympics through a charity?

If you offer the government of East Bumfuck enough, they'll give you a spot on their team.

2/10 for spelling Janeiro correctly -
The IAAF has a special program for charity Olympians that requires you to:
1. Fill out the complete application form that you can download in pdf format from the IAAF website.
2. Deliver your completed application before July 1, 2016, together with $500,000 in unmarked U.S. currency, to the gentleman in the 3rd stall in men's restroom at the Monaco train station.
3. Post everything you can about your training, diet and the Olympics on social media to "inspire" people. Just don't mention your sponsors. -

Just be careful: the gentleman in the 2nd stall is a Republican Senator looking for gay sex. -
I just have a wide stance.

1/10.... for making me laugh.

Behold! Another LRC troll, aka small person. There is zero need to ridicule runners who raise funds for worthy charitable causes. Figure this out someday.

This will make the west bum fuc kers very angry though. Avoid them in the Olympic village. -
Raise as much money as you want but in reality those people (charity runners) take spots away from legitimate runners who worked their asses of to run a qualifying time.....charity runners should still have to run the qualifying time to run Boston.
-
Charity Runners still need to run the Boston qualifying time. Just because you run the time does not get you in.

No qualifying time is required for charity runners.
Q. If I do not have a qualifying time, then how can I enter the Boston Marathon?
A:If you are unable to obtain a qualifying time for your gender and age group, you may be interested in exploring the Boston Marathon Official Charity Program. In order to apply to run for one of our official charities, you must contact your charity of interest directly.

Utterly false. Charitable orgs are a major reason reason why the 7 contiguous towns on the marathon course permitted the BAA to incrementally grow the field size the past 20 years. There are now more qualified runners than ever -- back in '97 it was only 8k, today it's 24k. -
Its okay the Olympics are for hobby joggers anyways. A 2:11-2:15 marathon to medal is pedestrian anyways.
Just dope your way in like everyone else. -
Not through a charity, but you could by running for a country without enough athletes:
Unqualified Athletes
ï‚· NOCs with no male or female qualified athlete or relay team will be allowed to enter their best male athlete and their best female athlete in one athletic event each, with the exception of the Combined Events, 10,000m and 3000m Steeplechase.
ï‚· This applies equally to unqualified female entries from an NOC with qualified males, and vice versa.
ï‚· Acceptance of unqualified entries in Field Events and Road Events will be at the discretion of the IAAF Technical Delegates, based on the technical standard of the athlete and the numbers of qualified athletes in the respective event. In order to allow the IAAF Technical Delegates to assess the technical level of such athletes, a specific application form indicating the event in which the entry is requested and the proof of the technical level and international participation of the nominated athlete must be submitted to the IAAF. The IAAF shall subsequently confirm, in writing to NOCs, with a copy to the Rio 2016 Sport Entries Department, the approval or otherwise of the entry of the specified athlete(s).
ï‚· The application forms of all unqualified athletes must be submitted by NOCs to the IAAF no later than 4 July 2016.

You could be like the Saudi woman who set the Saudi national record in the 800m at the London Olympics by running 2:44. -

Look at how many high school coaches have gotten VIP Passes to the Olys, NCAAs, USAs, Oly Trials, NCAA XCs, Bos, Nyc, Chi, Peach Tree, by exploiting the USATF "gravy train". It's so cool that the US is 'the land of opportunity' ;-)
