I'm a freshman going into track and I was wondering how to do my base training. I'm thinking about running 6 days a week with 1 tempo and 1 long run 9-12 miles. I'm going to be doing my tempo 30-40 seconds slower than 5k pace (7:05). The highest mileage I have gotten to was around 25-30 with 2 speed days and I was going to try and work up to 45 miles per week before track starts in early March. Is that a good plan for the base phase? I've never actually done base training before since I just started running this year for XC so thanks.
