Same name, different person.
If you think it takes 4 hours for Adam Goucher to run 33k (20 miles)... you're greatly mistaken.
He couldn't run as slow as 12 minute mile pace even if he tried!
IDK.....He is from the RUN THE EDGE team....That's Adam Goucher's team
It's obviously bullshit. He didn't run that.
It is THE Adam Goucher! This really sucks! He was my hero is "...buffalos". Last I read he was into racing Eliptigos (SP). Wow!

Yes it is definitely him. Though a 33k isn't really an ultra.

A couple of points:
*Hardloper is correct, 33k is not an ultra
*It's actually a 6 day stage race thru the mountains of Colorado, fashioned after a similar (and in my opinion, way cooler) stage race in the Alps ("TransAlps")
*There are many classifications in these events, including teams, mixed gender teams, teams where the combined age of the teammates exceeds a number, etc...
*Goucher finished with the same time as another guy listed as running for the same team for stage 1, suggesting he was there as a teammate for an otherwise slower runner/friend/whatever. However, he then lost 10 minutes to this presumed teammate on stage 2, then pretty much together the rest of the days. They ended up 18th and 19th overall
*Oddly, I could not find them listed in any of the team classifications in the results, only as individuals (although I'm viewing on my phone and could have missed)
So yes indeed, it's a little curious. But hey, if he's having fun...
Ultrajogger?

Tim Catalano. Co-founder of Run the Edge and co-author of the book.
From what I can gather, TransRockies is a pretty competitive multi-day stage race with a decent level of prestige in the Mountain Ultra Trail scene. A couple years ago it was won by Rob Krar and Mike Smith (current Georgetown cc/track coach).
Deer Adam Goucher,
Don't listen to those negative people. You're gonna do it because you can. Keep running strong and going after your dreams. Ultra runners are way cooler than marathoners because they can run more. It is a fact that all marathoners are too weak to run ultra marathons. Therefore, I am. So you can do it!
Having done TransRockies, there are a bunch of rules you have to follow, most notably that you have to stay within 1 minute of your teammate at all times. So if either was having a bad day, both are going to run slow.
Also noteworthy, the lowest elevation for this race is like 8,500' and Stage 1 is pretty tough. It's hot, it's dry, it's up high and is 90% on trails / 10% on dirt roads.
Lastly, from what I gathered on Twitter during the event, Tim & Adam were mostly doing it for fun.
Keep in mind he did breakdown his body more than most runners to run times that readers here can only dream of running...good for him for still being involved in the running community when he could just have become a bitter old fat guy who doesn't care anymore. Also, part of the reason why he still runs is to stay in somewhat good shape so Kara doesn't completely upstage him in the looks department.

Uh Oh!!!!
We've got a Team Goucher lover here!!!!
You and Adam share a beer one time???? Did Kara blow you a kiss before signing your bib number after the Oiselle 5k????
I'm confused. He was fast, now he's not, so he's not allowed to race anymore? Seems unfair at best.
