I am a senior who is planning on applying ED to Tufts. Academically, I am well qualified (2390 SAT, 3.9 unweighted/4.3 weighted GPA, strong extracurriculars) but I would love to continue running for their program. Given I only started to run my junior year with no prior experience or aerobic background, my times are not very strong but I believe reflect some amount of potential. Furthermore, as my PRs were set on 20-25 MPW, I hope to make significant gains this fall off of a consistent block of higher volume summer training. With times of 4:51 1600m, 10:31 3200m, and 17:18 XC three mile, should I bother filling out a recruitment questionnaire? I have no expectation of being a recruit by any means, but will a coach even entertain the idea of talking to someone with these times? Would I be better off waiting until I have some stronger times from XC to begin contact, or is expressing interest sooner rather than later better in this situation?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
