Hi
I am wondering if I should do any work at goal pace for the 5k. My goal for the season is around 18 minutes. I currently do tempo stuff at 6:30-6:40 pace.

I'd say goal pace work would be more suitable for tune up workouts. Stick to light speed sessions, hills, and tempos. You really don't need to learn your 5k pace until right before your race, if your fitness is there, you really don't necessarily need goal pace work.

A little wouldn't hurt, if only for variety. I'd suggest going to the track and running 12-16 x 200m with 200m recovery at your 5k goal pace. The key is to hit 5k goal pace (43-44) on the 200s, and not turn this into a hard workout. Such a workout is entirely about getting some running in at a certain pace while staying aerobic.
