Last year I didn't make my soccer team for high school so I decided to do XC off of no running training over the summer. By the end of the year I my 5k down to 18:00 and now I'm going into my junior year and am going to take XC very seriously. I have been running around 50 miles a week, a lot of core work and body work, and strides twice a week. Is this a good plan to break 17:00 in the 5k or should I increase mileage? speed work?
