What are some good exercises for the youth that are increasing their mileage this summer and encounter very mild shin pain?

Lay on your back and pump your feet up and down, pushing your toes as far down and then as far up toward your knees as you can, as fast as you can, until it burns so bad you can't continue. Start out slow, doing it only once a day, and build up if you want to. Personally I do it once every day after I run, and it has been the only thing that has helped my shin splints long term. I am also extremely shin splint prone, good luck!
