I work a management job that has a lot of moving parts and am full on most days with phone calls during phone calls, emergency meetings, managing a staff of 25, dozens of random fires needing to be put out on top of normal operations during the day.
I've always been a little "absent minded" ever since I was a kid but particularly notice it in the course of my work. My question is, is this short term memory loss or something less sinister like ADHD/lack of focus etc?
An example of some things that happen:
- I walk into my office to get something I need for a staff member and sit at my desk to look up their name/request. I notice a couple urgent matters on my email and respond then forget what I was there for (I'll usually remember a couple minutes later)
- I'll be working on a task and get a phone call where I have to run out of the room for 20 minutes and attend to something. When I come back I forget what the task was until I open my excel files (usually have 4-5 open at any given time) and notice it
- I'll get a phone call from someone with 3 things I need to do. I don't write it down and on my way to my office to write it down I run into someone else and have a 5 minute chat. When I get to my office I've forgotten 1 of them.
Today I went out and bought some flax oil, fish oil, walnuts, spinich etc "brain boosters." I also have committed to exercising more (I haven't dont much only 1-2 time a week in the last 5-6 weeks)
Any other tips? Is this bad?
