yeah it says that they don't want to give some off the cuff statement that vengeful people will use to hang them later, but take their time, review the allegations with their counsel and respond completely and defensibly. unless you think that if after arrest you don't give a statement to the cops right away you're instantly guilty? yeah that would be a great country to live in.

No, it just means he's a jerk. That doesn't help perception of recent events, but it's his misconduct -- lying, cheating and worse -- that makes him guilty.
cheating? prove it

They had the allegations for over a month prior to the programme; how much time do they need?
Who are the "people" you always asked? If you expect want your claim to be anything but your opinion you need to name names of the people you spoke with and provide details of their answers to your questions.
Otherwise you truly give the impression of what I accused you of, differential treatment based on your personal dispositions.

Did they get a preview of the program before it was aired?, if not they wouldn't know what the allegations were until it was.

No, I don't think they saw the documentary before it aired, but I know that AlSal had detailed e-mail correspondence with David Epstein that covered all of the main points made in the documentary. I'd be surprised if that correspondence wasn't reviewed by someone in the General Counsel's office at Nike and by Ricky Simms.
I think the delay in responding is tactical. If discussion of the article and documentary steadily diminishes, they'll keep waiting and on some Friday afternoon say the charges aren't worth a detailed reply. If the controversy grows, they'll go into full point-by-point rebuttal mode.
Mo is going to be key. If Mo leaves AlSal, the story will flame up in a big way in the UK and might even make the sports pages in the US. If Mo goes, others will almost certainly follow, but I'm not sure any other NOP athlete is a strong enough player to be likely to walk away against Nike's wishes. [Mary Cain might separate from AlSal with Nike's blessing, but only because there are other factors that can make an amicable split look plausible.]
