Do people actually believe in this pseudo math bs?
Souleiman in shape to run faster than anybody did last year, in MAY? Sure buddy. What's smoking crack and browsing the LRC message boards like? Must be a hell of a time.

I don't believe in ventolin's cwazy maths, but I do know that many athletes peak too early - we have no idea, but there would be nothing unusual if soul man got into too good shape in May instead of August. Sh%t happens in track.
I agree 100% with this your post , thanks for your insight

clueless
above were for "perfect" 1500
silas last year ran 3'27.6 with a 53.9 finish !!!
in a "perfect" race with even pace thruout & meaning only enough to muster a 55+ finish, he wouda probably gone ~ 3'26-mid/high in a "perfect" race

you are joking
guy was in awesome 2 mile shape beforehand & has ruined his speed with that 1/2M
Mo ran a solid race, he just got caught by surprise by Hagos toward the end of the backstraight. He waited til the home straight to pass, rather than try to run 3 wide on the bend, but couldn't catch the Hagos
nonsense
mo ran something like a 54+ in a pedestrian 7'35+++
in peak-speed shape, he shouda expected 52 or even 51s on that last lap
his speed was gone
Hagos ran a faster last lap iirc than Mo in the WC 5000 2 years ago, so it shouldn't be a real surprise that Mo couldn't pass him in the final 100m.
Hagos has run 12:47.53 .. so it's not like Mo got beat by some hack
he hasn't been anywhere close to 12'47 shape past coupla years
he already looked finished
i still don't think he's in anywhere close to that 12'47 shape & may never be

No. I'm not joking. A 1/2M 2 months ago has zero affect on his speed.

So was Asbel's. Did he run a 1/2M? How about Silas? Aman? What about Tommy Longosiwa? He ran an very pedestrian last lap in the 3000m.
It wasn't 7'35+++. It was 7'38.22. Nearly 20 seconds slower than you and your calculator "predicted".

A 12:47 runner is a great athlete. And a 12:47 runner at his age has potential to come back in to shape easy enough. Not that he necessarily will, but he very well may. Neither of us know that at all. He got silver in WCs in 2013, and ran a solid last lap then (faster than Mo, iirc). But he's been up and down. Mo losing to an athlete of his caliber isn't a disaster. And it certainly isn't because Mo ran a 1/2M 2 months ago.
