There is a zero percent chance of rain until 12 noon. When I looked out the window, I didn't see the trees moving. The headwind is less than predicted last night. It's 12 mphs at 10 going up to 16 mph at 12 nooon wherease yesterday the prediction was morel ike 15 at the start to 20 at the finish.
I have been unable to get in touch with LetsRun.com's wind expert - John Kellogg to ask himi how much that will slow things down.
Not sure who is in charge of the forecasts around here. We got off the subway (our stop was closed due to security) and waited in line for about 20 minutes. It started to rain!! The wind was definitely noticeable as well.
So after waiting 20 mins for security, I get to the front and he says, "I'm sorry sir, no suitcases allowed."
I'm like WTF. I've got all my luggage with me.
He's like, "Go up a block and try that security checkpoint."
I walk up a block and the security checkpoint wasn't even set up. Zero security. Just walked in. So a hundred people were waiting 20 mins a block away and a block up it's free entry.
Is Desi really going to race in a long-sleeve T-shirt?

She will probably stuff it in her fanny pack once it warms up.

Might get very heavy if the rain picks up.

I would assume she has a singlet under that

I don't think so - she has her number pinned to the LS shirt.
It definitely isn't warm here, but I would think that a singlet + arm sleeves would probably be sufficient.

I'm sure they gave her two numbers - one for the ls shirt and one for the singlet underneath

I assume they get 2 bibs.
Why isn't the BAA "watchlive" stream working?
She could have asked for two bibs? If I was running I'd wear a long sleeve over my bib at the start and throw it off after a bit. But as an elite, your bib needs to be clearly visible.
Why is this goofball acting as a rabbit??? Just let Deba lead!
they showed who won last year's race. That's background info to set up this year - no glorification involved.

Lisa Nemec of Croatia leads a large group through the mile at 5:38
Working for me now. I had to click on it a few times. At first I kept getting a no server screen.

Women through 1st mile little under 5:40, 2:28ish pace. That's on steep downhill.

This what happens if you have a separate womens elite start. If there were sub-elites in that wave, too, those would be running upfront and keeping the pace honest.
It's worth pointing out the windy weather didn't stop Deba from taking a big lead in NYC in 2013:

So exciting USA fans. We have an American in the lead at Boston in 2015!!!
Nemec - who is born and raised in the USA and went to Columbia - told me her training was great. She ran 70:39 half in Prague but said she thought that was the only disappointng part of her buildup.
Pre-race interview wth her here:

5:38 mile.
Good to see Laney staying controlled early. How long will it last?
