Do you mean what could he run if he was allowed by his coach to race the mile
3:58
3:25ish
-2 seconds
the kid is gonna get Bernie Montoya syndrome. Run 4:02 as a junior, have better workouts senior year but just never deliver in a race for some reason. Maybe the weather will be bad at the dream mile, maybe the pacing is bad, who knows, but he won't get it.

He seems like a good kid, bright. But that's my impression from online vids. I hope it's correct.
Something tells me letsrun cares more about this topic than Grant Fisher does.
I agree with that statement. I don't know if we will see a sub 4 mile from any high schooler this year. Every year, we think there will be but no one has in a few years.
12.7 seconds, obliterating Steve Ovett's world record runs. Jim Ryun who?
-1.7 seconds (if he even runs a mile)
Does the attitude of Fischer's coach come from not caring about the topic....or knowing that he can't get there...or perhaps knowing that he (the coach) doesn't know how to get there? There seems to be too much emphasis on XC, perhaps because that's what the coach knows.
I think those are the reasons Fisher doesn't get there (sub-4), not because he doesn't have the talent. I think if he signed with Salazar right now, he would make it.
Senior in Michigan graduate before the state meet - so you are really asking what will he run before at or before the regional. No, he will not break 4:00 before then, unless he does it indoors
Breaking 4:00 in HS takes more than just talent...and he has the talent. For him to stumble like he did in that 4:06 and then still run 4:06 indoors, that's pretty amazing.
