The numbers don't lie...
Let's look at some of them:
In 182 games, Lawrence Taylor had 2 touchdowns. Two! So far this season in just 10 games, J.J. has 4, the most since 1948. So J. J. has double the number of touchdowns in 10 games than Taylor has in 182 games!
LT was renowned for his incredible sacks. But J.J. is on pace to have more sacks in his career than even the great LT had.
Tackles - this is huge - LT had zero tackles in 182 games. Zero!!! So far this season J. J., in 10 games, has 212. What was Lawrence doing the rest of the time he was not having an occasional sack??!! That is a crazy bad stat.
Passes defended. In 182 games, LT had none. Not one. So far in 3.5 seasons J. J. has 34. 34 to zero.
Forced fumbles - LT had none - El Zippo in 182 games. J.J. has 10 in 58 games.
LT had a mystique about him but when looking at the cold, hard numbers J.J. is light years ahead of him.
