I've never been big on the bench press but simply would like to be able to bench press my weight. I'm 6'3", 173 lbs, with very long arms (size 36), and shooting to bench press 175 lbs. I can bench press 10 reps or more x 135 lbs, and often do 2 or 3 reps x 160 lbs. I should be able to bench press my weight according to some of the online bench press calculators.
I have developed some elbow pain in my left elbow which I attribute to bench pressing. Should I just back off for a while? Are there any more active treatments recommended besides simply abstaining?
