Just run baby.
Substitute daily chores with running.
Instead of driving the Toyonda to the cheesecake factory, next time run there.
Haha i get that part no problem... just How much how fast when? what do i need to hit a 4 min 59 sec mile
cant drive
75,75,75,74 lap times. No need to thank me. I am good at solving these complex equations.
Yes but how do i run 3 75's and a 74 in a row
I would try working on some over/under distance races/time trials. Maybe do 5 weekends of races run 800 - weeks 1, 3, 5 and 3200 or 3000m on weeks 2 and 4.
For a sub 5 runner you should be able to run
2:16 for 800 (if you are male)
2:19 for 800 (if you are female)
10:50 for 3200 (if you are male or female)
If you run this as a solo time trial you can add 2 seconds to your 800 time and 10 seconds to your 2 mile time.
Once you do the time trials just race every weekend until you break it.
Trial of miles. Start doubling every day, put in 130 mile weeks, and you'll be sub 5 in no time.

Forget about sub 5 for a while. You are currently averaging 97s a lap. 25% performance gain in a couple of months is a wildly ambitious goal. Focus on getting down to a medium length goal like 6 min first.
You should always break down your goals into short and medium term. Having an over ambitious goal can be frustrating and destroy your motivation.
Why is a sub 5 so important to you?
Any improvements you make should make you happy or else, your doing for the wrong reasons and you won't last.
if you've ran for a few months and you can only run 6:30 a lot of hope is gone, sorry. I'm already very mediocre and I ran 6:01 after about 3 weeks of training. (started at high 6, low 7 ish)
you better start running 7+ miles a day (lol jk dont do that you will get injured)
but yeah you need to really ramp up your training. like a lot, if you want to have any chance at getting close to 5 minutes

..and do not neglect miles of trials too. That would be intervals. In and out 400's in 75 to failure.
Watch runaholics and mimic them on runnerspace

Count by two
Just do intervals, and do them well. I'd start with 3x800 (2 min rest) in 3:15-3:20, 3:15, and then all out. 400-1000 repeats should be very helpful for someone of your talent, since you don't want to rush into things. Rest days, I would suggest doing 40-60 min, then lots of strides. After a few months of those type of repeats, simply do a 200 or 300 workout, and race a few days later to see where your at. You realy didn't need to make a topic out of this, though. I just found this new search engine on the internet if you want to try it. Here's the link:
Enjoy!
Work on breaking 6:00 first.
