Got it at beginning of XC season in college.
One month completely off.
Slowly started to build back (like 10 minutes runs).
By end if the season I could do easy runs with the team.
Lifetime PR for 3k that indoors.
But other peoples experiences are way different. Mine was pretty mild. Go by how you feel.

Probably cost Duke 2013 ACC title. Prov a Big East in '11 and maybe NCAA? Not something one talks about does one.
I'm starting to feel a lot better, still a bit tired but mostly better. I've only taken about a week and a half off of running, can I start back with easy runs now?
