Greetings for Memorial Day Weekend, masters.
ok week of running for me including:
16 miles with 3 at marathon pace (19:25) Monday
5 X 1000 meters (200 jog) at 5k pace (total time 17:58) Weds
2 X 13:00 (2:00 recovery) fairly hard (unmarked distance, hilly road course) Friday
anyone used a heart rate monitor for effort-based training? how did you like it? Usual plus I hear (keeps me from going too fast on easy days) has never moved me because I go very slow on easy days. But I'm starting to think it might be useful for keeping me from bailing, or getting discouraged by the times if I don't bail, on hard days.
As I get older and slower I'm finding it more of a strain to get through workouts without treating them as races in a misguided attempt to reassure myself I'm not THAT much slower.
