To a few of the previous posters: I don't really give a crap about my body image. The only reason I'm considering lifting is because I want it to supplement my training. That's the question I have. Does lifting supplement training to the point where it's worthwhile? If It helps I'm planning on peaking my mileage in 80-90 range before cutting back.

For 8k buildup I would tell my athletes to not worry about it and to just to stick with core 2x a week. Once a week lifting should be fine except you must realize that too much lifting can ruin your buildup in a sence, especially if doing pylo and lower body lifting, because it will make you have to run less mileage. I always tell my athletes strengthen the heart and leg strength will follow. For upper body lifting, it is also somewhat beneficial to do complementary once in a while, cut you don't need strong arms to run fast over 8k.
I'd stick with a upper body sesh one week and a lower body the next week. And don't forget to strengthen that core!
The lifting circuit I do have is composed mostly of core works with a med ball/yoga ball. There are also a few leg specific "lifts". I say "lifts" because I'm not actually lifting anything except for my body weight. I'm not doing any heavy duty lifting. It's all high rep low resistance. The only "lift" I'm doing is pull-ups/chin-ups.
It seems that it fits pretty well with what you have prescribed. What I'm getting out of what you said is lots of core work, some leg work and little to do with arms.
Thank you for your advice Joe!
