Today I went out and did a interval workout. My new yrs resolution is to run a 17:59 5k this yr. Went out and did 5x800 30secs recovery.. 2:38, 2:44,2:45, 2:49, 2:50.. Can I break 18? I think it's the hills out on the course that slow down my pace.

bump
hopefully
18:15- 18:25
how far am i away from my breakthrough race? (17:59)
Depends where that race is
in other words if it's a fast course or not?
try 8X800 with 1 minute recovery try to do 2:52-2:54 that was one I could do when I was trying to break 18
paperstreet- I think I could do that workout I did 5x800. Was a little cocky on the first few.
What kinda course did you first break 18 on? Does the course matter if you can do that workout? The course i'm doing is a fast mile 1, mile 2 has a couple small hills nothin to major but enough to break your pace, mile 3 same way a few up and down grades, and one little hill.. Any pacing strategies?
Thanks.
