I’m running a marathon in 10 days and am not sure how fast to try to run it. I have ran a few marathons before… but they have been barefoot and not really at a fast pace (limiting factor was abrasion not fitness). I am running this one in shoes for the first time.
Background:
I am 34 years old, run about 70 miles a week, and have completed a few ultras (50 mile and 100 km).
My best recent race in shoes was a 10 miler that I did in October in 1:02:45. I have been doing faster training (interval training) all winter since that 10 miler, and I feel I am in better shape now.
Typical, workouts:
Long runs (30 km +) at around 8 min/mile
Med runs (20 km) at around 6:30 min/mile
3x3 km with 3 min rest at around 6 min/mile
10x1 km with 70 sec rest at around 5:50 min/mile
My questions:
Is it a good idea to run a Yasso 800 workout tomorrow to use as a pace predictor, or is this too close to the race now (10 days away)?
What pace should I try to run this thing?
