He just pulled out of Bupa London 10k
and he most likely lost his venomous kick
will we ever see the Mo Farah of 2011,2012 and 2013 ????

The marathon is a one-way street with a dead end.
Still don't understand why he moved up to the marathon so soon having put all the effort in to dominate the 5/10k, and to also run 3:28(!) for 1500 on the track.
Doesn't it make more sense to concentrate on getting a Commonwealth title to go with the worlds and olympics and retire from the track after lowering his pr's?

Because money.
And it's what champions do.
The people who dangled the $$$ ruined his career not Mo. Who would turn down that kind of money just to show up.
kind of early
just like all those
WEBB IS BACK BABY threads
No.
In fact, I think he'll run faster. Most epic base phase of all time.
Not sure how moving up to the marathon is ruining your career

Yeah, moving up really didn't help and he could've easily passed down all that money cause in 2018 the hype for him to do a marathon would've increased and he would've gotten even more money then... Moving up to the marathon doesn't exactly ruin your career as a whole, but when you run 3:28 1500m the summer before which explained where he had been been getting his kick from the last 3 years then yes, the marathon is going to take a hit on his closing speed... I really thought a guy of Salazar's intelligence would have known not to put Farah in a marathon til at least 32, but you know, idk? But can he win the Commonwealth Games this year? I can't see him winning the 1500m definitely, and the 5k? With guys like Gebrehewit, Gebremeskel, Alimerew, Soi, Lagat who have been running 3k's indoor, are going to get in a couple 15's for speed, have ran 5k's with fast finishes (Alamerew just closed in 53 at DL Shangai) and already have a bunch of races under their belt, I don't see how Farah can take down all of them in the same race, one of them has to be having a great day, but the 10k? Yeah, I could see Farah winning the 10k cause of his strength from the Marathon, and the fact that there's not nearly as much competition... If Rupp, Derrick, and Levins are in there, then we could have a pretty good showing for US training based runners!
And Salazar: how come you told Dathan you didn't want to take him of the track yet, you still thought he had PR's in him, and you kept him doing speed workouts, but when Farah runs a 3:28, you're like "take him off the track next year"? Just doesn't make sense does it...
Course, you do realize that Gebremeskel, Gebrhiwet, Alamirew et al won't in the Commonwealth Games, right?
Well said, skeptic. One thing, though. US obviously strong in 10k these days ( probably - have to wait and see what happens between now and August) but won't be at CG.
And to the previous post, yeah you're right about some of the obvious heavy hitters in 5k. Ethiopia, for example not in CG. Kenya is, however, and very well could field a medal sweep team. Skeptic's right: Month won't have it easy and in my opinion should't go.
Listen, Mo just completed an awe inspiring base phase, that will in no way hurt him for this coming track season, let alone RIO. Stop being pansies, Mo's a champ and the marathon's only a glorified tempo, sorry to break it to you over-righteous washed up crowd. Track runners = real deal. The reason the marathon is becoming legit is because track guys are trying to take it on now. Stick to your ultras, while you can...

I guess we'll see, but, IMO, don't care what Bekele ran (and I watched the Paris Marathon and like Bekele a lot), Mo Farah's 2:07-[mid/high?] was awesome... within a year of 3:28.mid/high. In fact, it's so ridiculous it maybe sets the bar too high for runners. For instance, I know a lot of posters like to hate on Gabe Jennings, but I liked him and also thought his dabbling in a marathon or so for "spiritual" reasons and perhaps exploring/acquiring new tools for strength, was intriguing. Now, however, even though Mo Farah wasn't a career metric miler, his Marathon debut might set a precedent where the value of slower marathon times by middle-distance runners will be ignored and they will be ridiculed.
Read the German Herbert Steffny blog (in German)
He was in Kenya when Mo was training and watched a few track sessions..in his opinion Mo was running training for a very fast 10k on the track NOT for a marathon.Start of conspiracy theroy he postulated he was going to go for a very fast 10k later in the year and london was to pick up the big paycheck+base building
I predicted this already. The Start of No Farah. can't wait till he faces Kenny. payback will be sweet
considering his speed reserve has been built over the past years which has only really been utilised in working off a kick, he keeps getting questioned about his front running ability and basicly time trialing to aim for a record of sorts.
We kinda know that for Mo to do thi he would need to really go for it early on which so far would never have worked....
...However! Now we have someone with superb speed and kick with the additional endurance.
Persoanlly i thin we are gonna see records soon and this is the aim of salazar and Mo and hense the wide scope of the 1500 and the marathon. He wants the 10k record for defo!
I buy the conspiracy theory. He got 750k pounds (like 1.25 mil usd) for pacing half and then running the full marathon.
Sal obviously knew about his 3:28 speed before the deal, even if he ran that after the first 250k/half marathon. I bet he's careful to not overexert and use it as a base phase.
time will tell.
the marathon training could lead to one hell of a 10k.
the reason, he banked a lot of miles, and if you build up the right way, it is money in the bank. over do it and you're screwed.
i noticed that farah ran a decent last 1K in london marathon, so he was not totally busted in the race.
so maybe this is the year to go after the WR 10K.
but if farah is not tip top, take the season easy and get em next year.
cudos to al-sal and farah for pushing the envelop. but dang, that 328 1500 means that he can go 1240 5k or close. woulda coulda shoulda gone for the WR.
The US does not participatw in the commonwealth games, you blabbering fool. So shut your damm mouth

You're an idiot, a troll, or both. Ruin his career by running one marathon? Yeah, he's all done, it's over. Moron.
