Hi,
I am bouncing around a few ideas for tune-up races leading up to two marathons in the fall that are six weeks apart.
I have never done two in such a short period, but I think it will be manageable. I have run a 3:05 a few weeks ago and am hoping to break three in one or both (mohawk hudson and philly if it matters).
Of those races I'm considering is a 30K trail run with about 9k in gain about 9 weeks out / a NYRR "20 mile training run" also 9 weeks out, the ever popular new haven 20K six weeks out, a local ten miler five weeks out, and a half 2 weeks out.
I'd like to pick probably two of these because I am already doing a half marathon 12 week out in order to get a "baseline" for current fitness and goal pace.
Any suggestions on things that are good or bad when considering a race to choose from here, especially considering there are two goal marathons?
Is running a half two weeks out from the first marathon not great. I recover very quickly and have run a 25K two weeks before a full before, BUT this is before two marathons.
Thanks!
