My last race was a five miler exactly two weeks ago. It was my second run of a doubles day (13 miles total that day), and I did it in 31:31 or 6:18/mile pace. Hard, but not the hardest race I've ever run.
Whaddya say?

You're in for a struggle to break 1:25

I don't think he expected to take it easy.
I don't see why the OP can't do it.
Thanks. Yah, I know I'm probably marginal, but I figure that last 5 miler was somewhat hampered by tired legs. On taper, I'm hoping for a bit better
I'm going for sub-85 in October so I've been following this thread closely. Be sure to update us tomorrow after the race! Good luck.

I think you will be right in the vicinity of your goal if you run smart. (If you recall from the first page, I ran 1:26 while trying for 1:25).
In the 1:26 race, I ran the first 10k at 6:19/mi, so basically your 5 mile race and then some. I paid for it by only running 6:40s for the second half of the race. If you can run 6:30s from the start you'll likely just make it.
Thanks for the guidance. Race is tomorrow, so ilk definitely post an update.
If you can do 10 miles at race pace on your own, IMHO you'll be good to do that for 13.1 on race day with people around you and more adrenaline.
Otherwise being around mid 18 mins for 5k is where I was when I broke 1:25.
For mileage, its just a case of whatever amount you need to be in shape to run 65 min 10m and mid 18 5k, it was 18 a week for me, some may need less, some more.
