I get so sick of this argument, especially with regards to Arkansas. You could just as fairly use the argument that Arkansas doesn't sit in one of the most popular running communities in the world, and therefore is at a disadvantage. I don't think you'll hear that one out of the Fayetteville camp, though. Or how about the idea that Arkansas actually has a complete track team?
It's easy and lazy to use the import excuse, but that does nothing to explain guys like Baker, Morin, Lincoln, Falcon, Reina, Rock, Redwine, Ahmed, Lassiter, Huffman, Travis, Taylor, Hatch, Dailey, Sandfort, Ryan Wilson (need more?) who have come throuh McDonnell's program and are from (GASP!) the United States. Yes, Arkansas has had some great international guys, but I challenge anyone here to go to Fayetteville Arkansas and recruit a successful team of Americans. Is Wetmore somehow to be blamed because he recruited Ritz, the most talented distance prospect of the past 20 years? Should he have been happy to coach 9:20 kids (at altitude, mind you) to 13:45? Hell no.
