Doug Flutie had a legitimate bib, his autism charity was a partner at this years race.

Flutie is awesome and legit.

Anyone needs to bow their heads, it is these people (the Crowley's).

They apologized four days too late too. The Crowley's are worse than the four bandits in this thread. The wife even bragged about the fake bib earlier in the week.

Hilarious. It was soooo important to finish together, but you couldn't be bothered to spend one Saturday morning running a qualifier together so that you could start together? It takes ~3 hours at some local road race to earn your bib. Seems like a minor sacrifice for someone who finds the race to be that important.

I like the part about how she was upset the bandits received finishers medals. LOL!!

BS? Any runner that wasn't able to finish last year was able to get a number this year too (that was a portion of the increased # of entrants this year)

baa website has searchable 2013 projected finishers for anyone that couldn't reach the finish line. Dennis Crowley recorded a final 40k split just over 4 hours. Chelsea was not an official participant in 2013.

A very wealthy couple (Founder of Foursquare), for whom the "minimum fundraising requirement" for any number of official Boson Marathon charities would be considered pocket change, instead decide to risk their reputations by stealing a bib. (Even if the charity bibs were gone, you know they would be able to cough up enough money so that organizers would "find" an extra bib.)

6. Wife of couple mentioned above then FLAUNTS the fraud on her Twitter account, apparently oblivious to how easy it is to look up this stuff on the internet, even though her husband made a fortune off of leveraging the vast reach of the internet.

7. After the s--t hits the fan in the media, wife then brags about where she'll be doing her next marathon...just in case she isn't in your face enough.

To clarify some things:

1) neither Jordan Hamm or Louis Serafini were the bandits

2) Both BC runners raised money for charity

3) Hundreds of people did the same thing and copied numbers.

4) Gugala completely makes ridiculous remarks in that article with 0 fact.

5) If you care about this you shouldn't be on letsrun because you are not a true runner who knows what it means to run the marathon

32,000 runners, a celebration, people have been doing this for decades. . .
