So, I have not been able to race well lately. I run around 100mpw with 2 interval sessions a week with a race on the weekends. I believe I am capable of running below 15:00 for 5k. One of my sample workouts was, 2 x mile at 4:44 and 4:48 w/ 1 minute rest followed by 4 x 400m in 70 sec w/ 1 min. This workout did not feel too hard. Another was 4 x 800m in 2:20 w/ 1 minute rest followed by 4 x 200m in 28-29 seconds. Again this one was not too bad either. But I recently raced a 5k and only ran 15:51. I get super tight within the first 400m and find myself breathing heavy and legs feeling heavy when ever I am racing, and I think that could be why I seem to race poorly compared to my training. But I don't know? Any advice, suggestions, tips, anything would be really great. Thanks.
