Actually, I'm an extreme case, which is why i think that those times are reasonable. My mile PR is barely under 5, half mile PR slower than 2:20, quarter PR barely under 70, etc.... But like i said, i'm very fit. The real question is, if i suck so bad, why do i run so much? :)
It depends what we're talking about. I'm not trying to be a bigshot or anything -- but I rarely do tempo runs on the roads as slow as 6:00/mile. Usually the first mile or two is around there, but then i pick it up. Now, if he was doing marathon training, I've heard that it is common to do very long tempo runs as preparation, which is what i assumed it was. Obviously 6:00 pace isn't what you do on your easy days, but for a steady-state/tempo type run it isn't all that fast. The poster stated that his easy days are slower (7:30 pace? Mine are around there also...). What i was saying is that if i were to do a 10 mile tempo run (in preparation for a marathon, say), 6 minute pace would be significantly slower than what i would aim for, hence easy. Now that i think about it, i might try to run 5:50's, which is only 10 secs/mile faster, but that feels like a lot when you're actually running it. I can talk comfortably at 6 minute pace. If you wanted to call bullshit on me fine, but i'm not lying or exaggerating.
So, i think the times he gave are not unreasonable. People were calling bullshit on the guy, and I say he's not necessarily lying.
