we are training for a 3k and a 5k for indoor track. Our coach makes us do a 2 hour to 230 long run. Is that to much for a 3k and 5k?

Sub 9:00
3k
We did 2:00-2:30 every Sunday xc season and indoors until 60 % of outdoor
Depends what the rest of your week looks like. What percent of your weekly mileage is that?
jolly good. How long would you have an 840 3k guy run? same? or longer?
If you are running that much, you really need to learn the difference between "to" and "too".
Should be "too long" in your subject, and "too much" in your final question. Did you not learn this material in elementary school?
I dont see a problem with that. I was doing 16-19mi long runs for 5k stuff earlier in the year. They felt really easy compared to the short fast stuff during the week.
If you feel its too much you can always mention it to him so the coach knows how you feel. If he notices your performance dropping he might adjust it for you. speak up to him!
definitely, 80-90min long runs with some run progression style will do
I agree with 80-90 min long run I feel like anything over that isn't really beneficial to my training unless it is a long race. like 10k or marathon. 3k is more of a speed race.
A lot depends on how much overall mileage you're doing, how hard or easy you're running, what sort of conditions you're running under and so on. Rod Dixon used to do three hour runs when he was a 1500/5,000 guy and it worked pretty well for him.
What has your coach told you?
