Racism.
She was a looker.
Because she was not a Rock and Roll artist.
Any other questions?
Out of ALL the supremely talented musicians not in the Hall of Fame, you pick Linda??? A singer of covers? Now that would be a travesty....
She hasn't bought a ticket yet?
Even I have been in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
I agree. And I agree with the poster who said she was quite a looker. Here's her greatest video, especially in terms of how beautiful she was, what a great singer she was, and the heights she is able to climb on the unintentional comedy scale. Here she is singing "You're no Good" at a prison, singing to the prisoners, wearing a very fetching outfit--just fabulous. How she didn't start a prison riot I'll never know.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5PDjtkPfUw

Well, she sold a lot of copies of Jann Wenner's magazine. And "she's not a rocker" may not be accurate and it's certainly not the point. A lot of non-rockers are in the Hall now.
As of 2013, Linda Ronstadt has earned three No. 1 Pop albums, ten Top 10 Pop albums and 36 charting Pop albums on the Billboard Pop Album Charts. On Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, she has charted 15 albums including four that hit No. 1.
Also—as of 2013—Ronstadt's singles have earned her a No. 1 hit and three No. 2 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 (with ten Top 10 Pop singles and twenty-one reaching the 'Top 40' overall). Additionally she has scored two No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and two No. 1 hits and on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart.
Linda has recorded and released well over 30 studio albums and has made guest appearances on an estimated 120 other albums.
Ronstadt recorded songs written by a diverse group of artist including Lowell George, Zevon, Costello, Souther, Anna McGarrigle, Newman, Karla Bonoff, Patty Griffin, Sinéad O'Connor, Julie Miller, Mel Tillis, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, John Hiatt, Joe Melson, Seldom Scene, Bruce Springsteen, George Jones, Tracy Nelson, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Little Feat, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, the Everly Brothers, Brian Wilson, the Rolling Stones, the Miracles, Oscar Hammerstein II, Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly and the Crickets. (lots of rock n roll hall of famers there!)
Linda's RIAA certification (audits paid for by record companies or artist for promotion) tally as of 2001, totaled 19 Gold, 14 Platinum and 7 Multi-Platinum albums.
Ronstadt's album sales have not been certified since 2001, and at the time, Ronstadt's U.S. album sales were certified by the Recording Industry Association of America at over 30 million albums sold while Peter Asher, her former producer and manager, placed her total U.S. album sales at over 45 million. Likewise, her worldwide albums sales are in excess of 60 million albums sold, according to Verve Music.
I agree, love her music. She did say in her later years that if she had to do it over she'd sing opera.
what i want to know is how The World is a Beautiful Place and I'm No longer Afraid to Die is not yet inducted into the hall of fame. their latest 2013 full length is the shiz-nit. no joke, brah.
Because she can't be liked. I'm conservative. I go to her concert. She says I'm ruining (this is true, look it up) HER concert experience because I'm there. Really?
She is one of the worst people in the business .... I love her music but have a hard time listening to it because of her attitude. A "liberal" person should be able to accept everyone, yes?
Having said that ...

Well, you should reconsider being a conservative. It's bad.

And THAT right there is why she isnt in the Hall of Fame. She is a glorified cover artist.
I thought Linda Ronstadt was great during her early years. Her stint with The Stone Ponies (I think that was the name of the group) and her first 3-4 solo albums. About that time I read an article in Rolling Stone where she said that she really hadn't learn to sing yet. I liked the raw power of her voice that she herself was putting down. I'm not sure if it was her singing from that time on or the material, but I didn't care much for the later albums. She sang a song called The Dolphin around 1969 that I haven't heard in years, but it was GREAT! Other female singers (not song writers) that I like alot: Karen Dalton, Patsy Cline (of course) and Mary Gauthier
Mary Gauthier is a great song writer and singer.
I saw a teenage tweet that LRC was a website where old runners rip on young runners.
Sometimes the pop culture references on this website just out that the "audience" is a bunch of guys in their 60's.
Which makes all the ripping that goes on of today's athletes here, even more effed up.
That teenage tweet about LRC being a bunch of old guys is probably talking about guys in their 30's, not us 60 year olds. We're too old to even exist!
And yes, I erred in naming Mary Gauthier as a singer and not as a singer song writer. She is a great song writer-listen to Sugarcane, The Foundling
Also, why exclude Linda Ronstadt because she didn't write. Using that logic would exclude Elvis Presley!
