Have you seen her husband? He looks about 230 pounds and it's not muscle.
Yeah..he stalks around the track yelling insightful encouragement like, "Run faster!"

This is a pet peave of mine: everyone-- even the most experienced coaches-- basically yell the same "run faster."

No, no one is noticing because she is Mexican. If it had been a white girl like Maggie Vessey everyone would be having orgasms and jumping for joy right now. The running community in this country in general only roots for people that look like them. It's very unfair and racist. Brenda Marinez is not getting any attention because her last name is MARTINEZ and because she's Mexican. I know it hurts some people to hear this, but it's the truth.
Well can you imagine if Jordan Hasay would have ran the same time or an equivalent at some distance. You would have never heard the end of it.
Also when young pretty white girls go missing are killed ect, it gets TONS of national media attention. The same cannot be said for other races.
So what does this all mean?
media is inherently euro centric and promotes the culture and sort of values "they" value. the white, jewish, media BTW.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. You idiots are questioning her training by JOE VIGIL?!?!?! Joe Vigil, one of the most successful distance coaches in US history.
Agree with this. Two weeks until USA Championships. It would be arrogant not to show up in her best racing shape for that. Let her make a WC team before she starts taking it for granted.
Imagine what Francine Niyonsaba is thinking right now...you run 1:56 and they all talking about is about some 17yrs old running 1:59
Imagine Rudisha running 1:41 and we only talk about a high schooler running 1:44!!!
Show respect where is due: 2-3sec adrift in a 800m, you are in a different world to deserve such hype!
Oooh I forgot, Francine is just another east african dominating...by the way, she doesn't even have a track back in her country (Burundi)...training on dirt all the time and here she is making people with better ressources, better coaches, facilities and paycheck look like they don't know how to run. Props to Niyonsaba!

Hmm haven't seem him lately but her husband is an attractive Latino guy. If he has gotten overweight for whatever reason I think its juts a matter of time for him to "snap back" and get into shape.

of course niyonsaba is just another semenya. that is a dude running against women. plain to see.
that pic of him is more than a few years old i agree all he has to do is ”snap” back in shape like u said but it doesnt get much easier as u get older and i believe he.is older than bmart but still young by any means. hr gave up competitive.running.to help.coach brenda.so yeah.its prob not gona happen .
Grace Padilla gets hype for her looks in the running world. It's because she's the hot one.

Is she coached via email? How often does she see Vigil. Why doesn't Sarah Hall train with Brenda or Did the Hall's move again?
Ryan Hall hasn't lived in Big Bear since 2008.
A. we're all American-centric.
B. it's more noteworthy to defeat an American junior/hs record from the early 1980s and thus to own those records for 800/1500/mile/3000/3200 all at once than to become the sixteenth fastest American, as Martinez did.
C. Niyonsaba's sure burst on the scene fast running a time that very few, if any, clean athletes have ever run before, and there's surely more Semenya/Mutola to come where that was.

That fat boy ran 14:09?! I'm impressed.
Seriously though, how does someone who has the ability to run that fast actually get that fat? I don't understand it. It's not like guys with natural builds like football linemen are going to run fast 5000s. Guys with naturally thin builds (and with actual running talent) are the ones who will run fast 5000s.
So, after stopping running for a few years even, how does someone who was that good get that fat?
Many of us stopped running after high school or college (college for me) and didn't get fat.
Do you realize there is no correlation between being skinny and being talented? I know plenty of rails that have never exercised at all in there life and havent gained a pound, on the other hand you see guys like this who may be talented but fluctuate with there weight pretty easy.

Unfortunately you are stuck with the idiots on NBC - the commentators in Europe noticed her! The biggest idiot Hammond didn't even know who was leading/winning the men's 5k.

Martinez is flying way, way under the radar right now. She just became one of the top 15 fastest Americans ever at 800m ever behind Miles-Clark, Slaney, Gallagher, Valmon, Montano, Walton-Floyd, Jenkins, Clark-Diggs, Jackson, Teter, Jacobs, Hazel Clark, and Favor. GREAT JOB

Mmmmmmmm...
You are entirely correct in your subject questioning! Brenda's performance through 1:58.18 (and also earlier in the canceled 1:59-race 2013 and in the year of 1,500 meters with the nice 4:04-result) is absolutely cruel.
I'm from Europe, Scandinavia, and here it is until silently among the "informed" runners/experts, quite remarkable. The result and performance where at 1:58 race in Preclassic is brilliant, of course!
Martinez is a great runner with fine development potential.
It should also be said that Brenda is my personal favorite among the women middle distance-runners, in a way, so maybe I'm too partial?
It is true that Brenda was noticed here in Europe by the television commentators during the 1:58 race at the Pre Classic. I have seen several countries broadcasts afterwards and Martinez gets good cred, I think. She could, however, get more praise! While there was talk last a lot about Savinova was not in the race, etc., and the focus was (of course) on Niyonsaba.
Anyway Savinova had been beaten, I think/hope, by Martinez!
Brenda is a star - she is America's leading, best middle-distance runner from NOW, I mean.
