I don't know what you're smoking. Here out in suburban DC it's 86. Two weeks ago we had a snow storm. Seems normal to me.
forget about global warming! watch a movie in http://watchbaadshahtelugumovieonline.blogspot.com/
It's called global warming, not central MN warming.
Call me when we have a month of below average temperatures.
It's April 10.
We have now had a month of below-average temperatures.
What's your next genius move?

Sprint Geezer, i know you're getting old, but there are these things that are called scientific facts, that seem to be pointing toward our globe's warming. While we talk about repeated snow storms in certain parts of the country, ice caps are melting at a rate never recorded. Glaciers have completely disappeared in the matter of a few years in areas of the country that they have been for thousands of years. And if you want to talk more local weather.. we're dealing with our second straight year of well below normal rainfall in CA. In fact, our past few winters have been far from normal, seeming more like spring in January, which i've never seen in my lifetime. So keep on keepin on with thoughts of made up conspiracy ideas that the left has created to make money? off this "Global Warming" thing.
Which month?http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/2013/2March will be out within the next few days, but I can tell you it's not going to be below average.

CA--
I'm neither agreeing nor disagreeing with the existence, definition, or source of so-called "global warming"--I'm just poking some fun at another poster.
March has been "out" for 11 days now, in case you haven't noticed, and the average temperature for the month was 5.6 degrees below normal.

I can't wait for your NEXT genius move.
Or, since you seem to like NOAA url's,
http://www.crh.noaa.gov/news/display_cmsstory.php?wfo=mpx&storyid=93678&source=0
maybe they should call it CLIMATE CHANGE and not global warming....the whole idea is that there are more weather extremes not necessarily warming
It is likely that you will enlarge the scope of the management unit implicit in your "we", to perhaps the entire nation, or something that more suits your liking.
In that case, you would have no justification in stopping at that point, if there were reliable data from other areas of the world as well--and there very well might be, so make sure you do some digging and reference them all.
The Antartic ice shelf is growing at record rates and it's snowing in MN just like global warming predicted.

"Global Warming"
When there is a month of below average global temps call me. There hasn't been one since most people here have been born.
Sprintgeezer - you in MN too?
BTW - there is a good chance any scheduled meets this week will either be canceled or need the track shoveled first as Winter Storm Walda is expected to dump 8-12in on us.
No Way--
When there are reliable and meaningful measurements of global atmospheric temperatures, call me. There haven't been any since any human was ever born.

Here's a scientific fact for you - Global average temperatures have been virtually flatlined since 1998.
In the last 50 years there has been a DECREASE in Class 4 & 5 hurrricanes. And although you complain about perceived reductions in California rainfall totals, the fact is you've had record snowfalls in the Sierras for the past decade.
Follow the money - The purpose of federal grant money is to "prove" the whole climate change hypothesis, not to find out the reality of the failed hypothesis. There have been more than a few cases of researchers LOSING their grant money if the conclusions of their research discounted the anthropogenic effects on global climate activity. So yes, it is in fact a taxpayer-subsidized conspiracy, and the beneficiaries of this scam are all those taxpayer-subsidized green energy schemes.
Sigh.
A warmer atmosphere means more energy in the atmosphere. More energy means more moisture can be suspended and carried by the atmosphere. Which means heavier rainfalls and snowfalls.
The freak storm in Minnesota lasted less than two days, and temperatures are back in the '40s.
Hanging an argument on a single data point is useless.
Just because it got dark last night doesn't mean the sun was extinguished.
You don't think that we today can measure temperature in the atmosphere?
