Great coach, Ivy League school and his daughter chooses Georgetown. I know many will say they let her make her own decision and I'm sure that's true but just imagine if she had chosen Dartmouth.

...she is doing pretty well at Georgetown.
To have your athlete be the first American woman to win the indoor distance double AND have your daughter finish only ten seconds back as a true freshman...pretty dang priceless.
I didn't say she wasn't doing "we'll." Can't help but wonder what a 5:04 HS freshman could have run tonight as a college soph under her father's training. Not many people actually have the chance to live that dream. Coogan is one college coach that I would trust coaching my daughter.
*well
Katrina is a sophomore. She scored as a true Freshman on the 2011 National Champion Cross team. She may just be in her first year of eligibility in Indoor. Great performance, just not as a Freshman.

She was the third. Kim Smith and Sally Kipyego have already done it.
Kim Smith is from New Zealand and Sally Kipyego is Kenyan.
Abbey D'Agostino is the first American to do the double.
She's listed as a freshman, so I guess an "untrue" freshman lol.

Pretty sure katrina ran equivalent to a 4:48 in HS. And yes, Abby is doing great, where is the rest of the team?
I think Katrina ran 5:02 as a frosh (HS).
Well, Pappas isn't doing too badly after Coogan kick started her career.

Um, she was a stud in hs, then focused on soccer, then got serious about running again, like I said, Where is the rest of the team?
I don't have any inside info on the Dartmouth program but I don't think it's fair to criticize Coogan for not producing a huge amount of depth yet. Dartmouth is not like Oregon and Stanford in terms of recruiting. Programs like Oregon and Stanford have recruiting classes where almost every girl is low 4:40s mile or low 10s 2mile. Dartmouth is lucky to get 1 of those types of girls per year. Abbey and Alexi didn't even break 5 in high school.
Bottom line, it doesn't matter how good of a coach you are if you're getting sub par recruiting classes. Give Coogan time to recruit better athletes before you criticize.

Wow! You can access the internet from way back in the 1800s?!
I think Katrina made the right choice for her. In her first cross country season, Georgetown won the national championship. Now in her first indoor track season, she anchors their DMR team and finishes 7th in the 3k. Really good and bright future for her. If you watch Coach Coogan's interview on the front, he says that Katrina is really happy at Gtwn. Good for her.
