WTF.
WTF.
what a dogcrap response. He's done a great job at a great program, and has huge recruiting ties around the state. Plus, he's relatively young and will establish a program for the long term. Why wouldn't they top Angelo? TXC is bringing in a well-rounded coach who understands the importance of every event area... plus, you're an hour outside of the Dallas metroplex. And your comment about the AD being a football guy is BS... he wants a great T&F program too.Commerce will make noise at D2's in the next couple of years.

Definitely not the best candidate. He was a career assistant coach that is a safe hire, as he is willing to stay in nowhere Texas forever. Instead of ascending to take the place of Abilene, Commerce will never top Dibbern's former team, Angelo. Typical safe hire by the AD, who is a football guy (per usual).
I heard this a while ago as well, before it even opened up
there were various names thrown out before the position posted. much like any other job. given who the other considered candidates may be, i'd be surprised if this is the route they go. but he has done a good job at loyola.
If he has done a good job, why would that be surprising?
Angelo runs a limited program with respect to the breadth of events in t&f. I am curious to see how he does, given that Schneider is a successful tactician and has had strong success over an extended period of time. Bottom line is, I am familiar with the recruiting pool and this guy was not even close to the top of the barrel. They (whiny athletes, etc.) got what they wanted... a homer that is befitting of a grass field within nowhere Texas.

Heard same thing; let craziness begin!
So what's going on at Ohio state. Is there truth to someone not being there any longer ?

Nope. You're wrong.
They have, and have had, a pretty comprehensive program for years. Sure, they may not rank at the top in distances, but they give it a shot in a tough environment.
Good hire by TAMU-Commerce.
Northeastern:
Oregon hires assistant sprints,hurdles coach
Anyone have any information on AirForce Throws opening?
I was speaking more to the fact that they would have 6 white males on staff if they made that move.
Incorrect. They are a bunch of hurdlers. AND... you will need distances in addition to the other event areas to get it done on a national level. Let's see this guy run his own rodeo. Tell your buddy good luck. As you have expressed the alleged or supposed strengths of TAMUC, he will have no excuses and we will see. Also, be mindful that there are people in this business outside of the state of Texas.

You're wrong, and obviously know nothing about the Angelo State program.
I've never met the guy.
Sorry you got rejected for the job, better luck next time, mate!
Here's a novel idea...let Tom do his job at A&M - Commerce and you all shut up about how bad of a hire he was. GET A LIFE or, better yet, get a job and stop bashing everyone else's job.
Sounds like you are someone who applied/interviewed and didn't get the job. Since you seem to know who the rest of the candidates are, why don't you enlighten us on who the other ones were?
If you look at the hires of that program since the new AD got there, it makes the most sense.
Dibbern is one of the most passionate coaches I have ever seen, his experiences at Angelo will set him up to be successful. The guy knows his stuff.
No way it is Wakenight. They have a staff full of white men. This will be a minority hire or a female or both. Besides, from reading his Loyola bio, Wakenight's only real credentials appear to actually be Coach Woody's or Coach Robert's athletes. It doesn't look like he really had any athletes of his own at Iowa, and his time at Loyola doesn't seem to be enough for a big job like Wisconsin. Of course, maybe Wisco doesn't really care, they have 3 distance coaches on staff now, maybe sprints are going to go away except for walk-ons.

I heard rumor that Jason Wakenight from Loyola University is up for the Wisconsin position. Can anyone confirm this?
What possible reasons could some of these programs have for dragging their feet soooo long in the hiring process? School has started and positions are not filled that have been open for quite some time!

Because its FOOTBALL season, baby!!
Cross country / T&F is LOW priority right now on college campuses.

I get where cross and track rank on the administrations scales, but the head coaches of these programs should the hiring primarily in their hands. And they have been open for way longer than football has been going on. Most should have been done weeks ago!
