My coach is horrible. Everyone hates him. We do terrible at races. Lots are injured. Runners either quit or hate running by the end.
How do we get a new coach?

Transfer.
The whole team should transfer?

You should only worry about yourself.
Had a similar experience, they'll probably get rid of him eventually, but that doesn't help you much in the short term.

If you really want to get rid of him, you'll need to involve the athletic department. Unfortunately, athletic departments tend not to care at all about teams who suck. Therefore, you must make you athletic department care about your team first. Because you suck, there's only one other available option; make waves. Our team did it by making offensive shirts and strutting around campus until someone noticed and dimed us out. This caused a domino reaction which ended in the coach being removed from power a year and a half later. You need to make it more than clear that the coach has lost all control of his team, athletically and behaviorally. Then they have no choice but to remove him. I should warn you though, there's a 50% chance your coach is removed and a 50% chance your team has a season suspended. So it's risky, but well worth it if you hate your coach.

Wait? You think we are a bad recruit since we are injured and end up hating running?
Thanks Josh Hamilton;
We will try to make them care!
Ask your family attorney to call the AD...

Have your mom call him.

And say what exactly?
AD: Hello?
Attorney: Yes, my client's son Jimmy runs track at your school and his Mother says your track coach is terrible.
AD: Ummm, OK, how so?
Attorney: Well, I can't be expected to know all that. Jimmy says that he hates running and the track coach, "Sucks." So I am calling for you to take action.
AD:
Attorney: Hello? ... hello?

Yes, I do think you are bad recruits if you can't figure out a way to stay healthy and produce, and then end up 'hating running' as a result. College running is hard. Not looking to excuse your coach or judge, since you offered no anecdotal evidence, but you and your team sound like too many whiners that exist out there these days. Buck up.
Why did you decide to run for this guy in the first place? There are ~2,500 4-year schools in the United States. You're telling me that none of these schools offer the academics you're looking for and have a good track coach?
I agree that you sound like so many of the other whinning distance runners on this board.
Why is it always the coaches fault that you and your team sucks. Maybe you all need to take a step back look at yourselves and take some accountability for yourself.
Perfect example is my team. We all thought the coach sucked and didnt know what he was doing. We finally got rid of him and the assistant wh we all thougt was so great. Our season was still bad and we all ran basically the same times at the same meets and finished terrible at the end of the season.
Maybe if we had shut up buy into what ever program we would get better.
This is thread is the reason why these boards should be shut down. Just gives us a place to whine, bitch, and blame someone else.
Actually, this post is a great reminder about what it takes at the college level.
One has to really figure out what works for them, and be relaxed and mature. Athletes who get caught up in the moment tend to over-train, or pay too much attention to distractions.
Different approaches work for different runners, but as I look
back on it I would have significantly increased my mileage, done so very cautiously (meaning very way of the intensity each day), and made sure I looked at training in 3 month chunks rather than through the coming week. I never had a running injury and could have handled more mileage.
All easier said than done, and in a quiet way, I should have made sure to put my objectives first.

AD: I'm back. Let me say this: Here at our college, we’ve always been proud of our athletic prowess. We believe that track and field and cross country are indispensable in helping to complete the education of a scholar-athlete. They create character. They foster courage, honesty and leadership, but most of all, an unassailable spirit of loyalty, comradeship and mutual responsibility.
AD: Hello?...hello?

College isn't for everyone. Why waste money now something now that isn't helping your for adjustment into the real world?
Although the point is indelicately made, it is valid to ask yourself whether, in this scenario, it is the coach who sucks or the runner who thinks he's better than he actually is?
No you dummy. Just the fact legal stuff could become part of the equation will cause the AD to take a closer look. Anytime lawyers get involved colleges fold like cheap tents.
